Founded in 1953, Polyguard Products specializes in products and systems to protect surfaces and structures from moisture, water and other undesirable substances. In 1970 Polyguard introduced architectural membranes featuring rubberized asphalt sheets to be used as waterproofing membranes. Continuous product development has occurred since then and now features membrane systems for pre-applied as well as post applied applications. In addition to providing superior waterproofing performance some of these membranes protect against radon gas, methane and termites. These product lines form the core of the Architectural Division.
Today the Polyguard Architectural Division offers the Integrated Building Envelope System with air barriers, masonry and thru-wall window and door flashings and below grade structural waterproofing and drainage systems.

International Leak Detection (ILD®) has been the leading provider of roofing and waterproofing integrity testing in North America since 2001. ILD®’s proprietary Electric Field Vector Mapping (EFVM®) testing method was developed in Germany in the early 1990’s, and since then has expanded to over 20 countries and tested over 350 million sq.ft. of waterproofing and roofing membrane.
EFVM® is a safe, non-destructive,
low-voltage test method that has the ability to find pinhole-size punctures in waterproofing, including on horizontal and vertical surfaces, and can also read through overburden such as green roofs, ballast, and pavers.
ILD® is an unbiased, independent
testing agency and offers three categories of testing, all administered by trained and certified technicians:
- Integrity Testing: testing of new construction.
- Troubleshooting: testing for active leaks.
- Maintenance Testing: periodic testing.
